ADT a long time ago used to do mostly commerical work. Then they moved to wiring homes. Most of their work was done by subs they hire. Their intentions are good but some installers may not be. Bottom line is they have been getting better with time. They have always had a good record for responding when something happens. That alone has helped their reputation. I would also check Consumer Reports to look at the competition and prices.

I think they are considered number one because of their good response. They have people monitoring the system. Some company’s use an automatic dialer to notify police..They have fewer false alarms and the police will respond. When you have mechanical dialer’s you have a lot more false alarms and the police will not respond. It usually cost a little more but in most cases it is worth it. Because of the commercial application the can afford to offer it to the average consumer. Business people pay more of their overhead than the home owner. There are other good company’s but ADT seems to be the best. If they do have a false alarm in some cases they charge you, this also reduces the overall cost. Good Luck

I think they suck..I was painting a clients house and while they were out of town I messed up and did the wrong password..I was in the country..It went off for over an hour before I called the client finally and got the proper password..No police, phone calls to the house ever came

Before paying any security company to install a security system check with your local police and dispatching department.
These companies aren’t going to do you any good unless the locals have a working agreement with them. If the locals won’t come out when an alarm goes off, what’s the sense of having them.
And, sometime you have to pay the locals a fee for answering your calls from the security system.

Amen to what pcbeach said….The same thing happened to me while working on someones house a couple of years ago.I will say this. They did call.We explained what we were doing there but we could not give the correct password so they should have sent the police anyways. But they didn’t!! And we were in a very affluent neighborhood to.Get yourself a 12 gauge best deterrent I know of …..lol Just kidding of course
