Feel Good About Going Away
A common practice for New Englanders is to head south when the weather gets rough in those cold winter months. However, being away for an extended period of time.
The latest home security systems are designed so that you can feel very confident that your home and belongings are safe while you’re away. Whether you plan to be gone for a few weeks or a few months. Recently, a family in Connecticut that has lived in the same home for over 25 years without a security system finally decided to sign up for their very first security system. There had recently been several burglaries in their neighborhood and they were planning to be away in Florida for over a month so they figured now is the time to act. While their neighborhood itself is quite safe, you still never know what can happen especially if that area has been targeted before.
They did their research and with the ease of a phone call and personal home visit they were all set up and ready to go. Most home security systems today have a vast network of monitoring command centers and very easy to use home security equipment. Once set up your home will be protected 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. While away in Florida and even when they are back home, their home is now being monitored 24 hours a day 7 days a week by a live security monitoring team of professionals located in four interconnected monitoring control centers.
There are many options when choosing a home security system depending on the level of protection you desire for your home. Many systems come with an easy to use keychain remote that allows you to turn your home alarm system on or off from any location. Also with this digital keypad you can get in touch with security professionals in seconds. Because of advancements in technology in recent years, the response time of the security professionals has vastly improved. They are notified instantly if there is a problem and are able to notify and direct the correct emergency responders to your home in the case of an actual emergency.
If you would prefer to start up with the basic home security system you always have the option to expand your coverage to include fire, smoke, carbon monoxide, floods and pipe freezes. Another new feature that is very popular with the home security systems is the new motion sensor feature. The proper term for this is Infrared Interior Motion Detector. It serves as an interior trap to better protect your home. Furthermore, you can also opt to get the motion sensors, which protect your doors and windows and any other points of entry. These motion sensors are connected with the overall system and let you know when the doors and windows are protected with an audible alarm. You can always add more sensors as you go along but it is a great enhancement to better protect your home.

My Brother Is Going ??? !!!?
I Have A Brother Who Is Five Years Younger Than Me. He Is A Very Shy And Mysterious Type. He Is Not Afraid To Talk Or Socialize But He Keeps His Contacts Rather Limited And Is Wary Of New People. He Has Never Really Talked To Girls Unnecessarily And Has Only A Few Female Friends. He Has Never Had A Girlfriend. He Is Highly Asexual. He Has Never Even Really Liked A Girl Until Now. He Told Me That He Has A Picture Of An Ideal Female For Him In His Mind. I Told Him That That Is Not How Things Worked. But He Insisted That He Knew It Was Fate. Anyways, He Actually Saw Someone That Actually Resembled That Ideal Face In His Mind. He Told Me That She Looks Just Like The Image In His Head. He is Obsessing Over Her Now. He Sits Quietly Outside And Often Thinks About Her. He Told Me That He First Saw Her With Another Guy. He Actually Saw Her From Behind First And He Knew She Was The One Without Looking At Her Face. Her Face Later Confirmed It. He Again Saw Her Later That Day With That Guy At University. He Is Also Going To That Same University. Next Time, He Saw Her With A Group Of Friends Which Included Both Girls And Guys. He Says He Is Not Really Sure If That Guy Was With Her. He Says He Likes And Admires Her Very Much. He Really Hopes That That Guy Was Just A Friend To Her And I Said Yes That Is Very Likely Because People Randomly Stumble Across Many Different People Regularly At A University. He Says He Wants To Go At Night And Secretly Attach A Camera In The Trees So That He Can Monitor Her Movements And The Guys To. He Wants To Know What Is The Best Time To Meet Her Alone. He Says That If That Guy Indeed Is Her Boyfriend, He Will Smash His Land-Cruiser In Him Or Spray Carbon-Monoxide On Him Or Just Plain Old Beat Him Down Because He Specializes In Something . He Has Contacts At The University So I Told Him To Just Check For Her Timetable And See When She Is Free. I Told Him Not To Harm The Other Guy If He Indeed Turns Out To Be Her Boyfriend. I Told Him To Never Freak Anyone Out. He Told Me That He Would Not Do It As It Is Risky. But He Is Deathly Afraid Of Rejection. This Girl Means A Lot To Him. He Describes Very Nicely Her Physical Features And He Is Sure That She Is The One For Him. But He Cannot Take Rejection For An Answer. He Gets Very Sad And Low When He Mentions That. I Told Him Not To Worry As It Is Indeed Fate And It Is True That Love Is Finding Him. He Tells Me That Merely Thinking About Her Makes Him Feel Very Relieved And Light Headed. He Says He Cannot Live And Breathe Without Her Because She Means So Much To Him. Please Can You Give Advice On He Should Go About Approaching Her And Meet Her And How To Actually Talk To Her Without Freaking Her Away. If She Has A Boyfriend, Then How Can He Pull Her Towards His Side Or Make Her Attracted To Him And Like Him Instead??
Digital Phone, Cable and our home security system going off when cable goes out? Need a fix for that.?
We recently had digital phone hooked up. We had cable for the computer and tv for years. I heard great things about digital phone, which, eh, it’s ok. Clarity is not so great, even with a 5.8MH phone which is brand new.
That’s not my problem though.
We have a security system for our home, and that was installed 12yrs ago and is hooked up to the telephone line.
Apparently when cable goes out for just a second, our alarm sounds. It happened last night at 2am.
One box (alarm system) is located in my son’s closet which is locked and I do not have a key. I would assume that is where the hook up is for the telephone cable.
Second box is in my other son’s room, which is the electrical supply.
The company that installed the system is no longer in business.
My question is:
How do I get into the metal 20″ X 15″ box to disconnect the telephone line and which line is it , and how to do this without interupting the normal functions of alarm. It is not monitored.
It is a good idea to tell you home monitoring company that you are going in vacation?
It is the first time we are going in vacation since we have the home security system. My concern is that if some employee knows, he can tell his buddy, so they can try to break in without any worry.
What good it makes if the company knows? They put you on a “watch list” or “code orange” or something? I don’t think so.
The Five Questions to Ask Before Going Live with a Home Security System
After much planning and deliberation, you will come to the point where you can decide on the type of home alarm system you want for your house and the other key factors of a security plan. There is never any way to think too long about this issue, as the safety and peace of mind of your family depends on it. However, remember that it’s not all about the alarm or any other device you think ends the discussion. To be sure, sometimes it’s the little things which make all the difference. Here are five questions to ask yourself before considering your home security plan complete and going ‘live.’
1. Does everyone know the procedures in case the alarm sounds? One of the most common errors made by homeowners is assuming the police will be sent automatically whenever an alarm sounds. In many cases, a security company will require a confirmation from someone inside your home. For this reason, you need to have a backup plan (in the form of a neighbor, etc.) in case you are not at home. Too many false alarms have been preoccupying police forces in recent years to make an immediate response feasible.
2. Who has the code? As you and your immediate family members may not be the only ones using your alarm, you have to make a decision. Should you give out the main code to part-time employees or figure out a different way to handle it? Remember that separate codes can be used, but they may require a specific time frame or other limitation. The codes which work for employees should only be used if they always keep the same hours.
3. Are fire alarms and carbon monoxide sensors connected to the home security system? If you have gone through the trouble of getting motion sensors and window smash detectors to go along with your smoke alarms and CO2 detectors, they should all be connected through one main portal with your home security system. Having a monitoring service keeping track of everything in your home is a wise move.
4. Is there adequate signage posted to keep trespassers from even trying? While it may not be your first choice in exterior home design, posting stickers or signs from a home security company can be very effective in stopping burglary attempts before they happen. Normally, you will get them free when signing up for a monitoring service or when you purchase your alarm. Don’t say ‘no’ because of the look. Law enforcement experts swear by their effectiveness.
5. Can you alarm recognize your pets? A very common slip-up with motion sensors is the fact that they can trigger an alarm when your pet passes by in the most harmless fashion. Make sure your alarm system is pet-friendly and will recognize the more important security breaches. After all, everyone will tire quickly of false alarms.
Contact ADT when you are unsure if your security plan is sufficient. ADT alarms have been protecting families for over a century.
