A question about burglar alarm system effectiveness?

Can a highly advanced home alarm system with loud sirens, motion, window, and glass break sensors with a fast responding monitoring company scare off burglars who try to break in, especially with two big guard dogs? When I speak of burglars, I’m not talking about high skilled professional ones since if they want in, they’ll get in. I’m talking of a burglar who is just a normal person who’s lazy and tries to find the easiest way in. Also, is it possible to at least partially program the system to allow the dog to walk around the house while in “stay” mode without tripping the alarm?

Question about security at home?

Ok, i have seen a lot of people talking about us not being safe at home, and are using that as an anchor for why we are at war with Iraq. First of all, the billions of dollars that we have spent in Iraq could have been put towards security and protection here at home, where our biggest defense should be anyway. Second, we are the most advanced country in the world. We can see planes anywhere in the world have a lot of time to monitor certain threats, the only reason 9/11 happened is because the planes were hijacked, which probably wont happen again now that security is so high now. And do you people honestly believe that their will be terrorists running in our streets? I mean come on, there will always be terrorists, but even if we stay in Iraq it wont matter if they are already here. That money could easily go to hunting down terrorists here as well. They strap bombs to themselves to prove thier points, and you cant deal with that in an effective manner.
The question is why couldnt anyone seem to see this a long time ago and why nobody wants a timetable to get out of Iraq. I agree we need to stay now (there really is no question), but we need to take effective steps to get out as soon as possible.

And for the people who actually comment on the fact that I say so much and have a problem with it there is an even easier solution. DONT READ IT.

What do you do about a persistent burglar that comes into your house through the attic every night?

Called 911 several times. Police say it is false alarm due to frequency and not typical of burglar to be dropped off rather than parked near house. Also, house alarm not triggered due to not monitoring access point.

Does not have appeared to taken anything yet. Believe to be
taking financial info for identity theft and possible embezzlement.

One time – tried to photograph. His gang tried to confront me possibly with weapons. I closed garage door on them before they reached me. Neighbor called 911 and they fled. Burglar tried to bust through access point when I boarded it up. But, he is able to loosen the board now and still gain access to the house.

Hired security to keep watch. No evidence obtained.

Tried alarming access point. Burglar continues to come back.
Tried blocking closet doors with wood. Burglar continues to
try to break through. This is the current situation as it stands.

From talking with lawyer friend, booby trap is a no-no. Any suggestions?

I need some advice about home security systems?

I want to buy one that turns on the lights and makes a loud reaction and calls the police when an intruder breaks in.
My partner found one that charges you $19.00 a month to call the police.
I know that there has to be one that calls them for free.
If you know of any please provide links.
Thanks

My neighbor’s house was broken into so i’m thinking about beefing up my home’s security?

Where can i buy some anti personal mines, razor wire, fragmentation grenades, a Browning M2 .50 caliber, a couple of RPGs and a scud missile platform for an afordable price?

Do you know anything about home security systems?

We are thinking about getting one for our house. I called ADT and they charge $630 for the installation alone! Protection One, on the other hand, only charges about $150. What’s the difference? Is the security system worth the money? Is it a hassle? Etc?

General Myths About Burglar Alarm System

Do you think that your home is safe from vandals and burglars?

According to the US crime report, documented by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the rate of burglary is on a gradual rise. In 2008, the rate increased by approximately 1% from the previous year’s level. It is therefore the time to burst the balloon of misconception that your home is safe and to install a monitored burglar alarm system.

Myths About Burglar Alarm System

The popularity of burglar alarm systems has led to the rise of numerous misconceptions about their application. It is essential to understand their usage and benefits in order to make a smart purchase.

Myth 1: They are expensive – Every product comes with a price. Burglar security systems are available in a range of prices. For average protection, one can buy an affordable security system. However, for maximum coverage, wireless security systems with 24×7 monitoring are the best. Thus, the price factor is a relative term, which is defined by the scope of protection that one requires.

Myth 2: Burglar systems are too technical to use – Burglar alarm systems are installed in the home by experts. Once installed, all you have to do is to switch on or off the system according to your requirements.

Myth 3: They are highly intrusive – To use burglar systems with efficiency, a family has to follow ertain routine habits. However, most of the devices are non-intrusive and do not interfere with your routine life if used properly.

Myth 4: The system fails with power loss – In a world where 2 cm chips are used to connect to the satellite, how can such an important device fail during a power failure? Burglar security systems have alternative power back up through battery. Also, they have alternative cellular connection, in case the telephone line trips.

Myth 5: False alarms will lead to hefty penalties – These systems alert the local police station within 30 seconds of security threat detection. So, a false alarm can actually lead to heavy penalties and chaos. However, most of the devices allow homeowners to cancel a false alarm immediately. Also, some of the devices allow homeowners to redial the local police station and inform them about the false alarm. Thus, heavy penalties can be avoided.

The Truth About Free Burglar Alarm Installations

I’m sure that you have seen the advertisements for free home security systems.  These burglar alarm companies promise you a state-of-the-art home security system valued at almost a thousand dollars and you can get it for free.  Of course there is the fine print that says they are going to charge you a small installation fee and you have to sign a rather long monitoring agreement where you will be paying a monthly fee.

Personally I cringe whenever I see one of those ads and I also get a little angry.  That is because I know that when you have one of these so called “free” home security systems installed, you may “feel” like you are secure but are you really safe?

Of course the system is complete and it will work.  But if you take a closer look, you will see that these home security systems only cover 2-3 openings.  Now I don’t know about you, but my house has more than just 2 openings that burglar can enter through.

If you live in an apartment on the upper floor or something like that where you only have a couple of exposed openings that a burglar could get into without a ladder or something, then the free home security system will be a perfect solution

Now I don’t want you to think that you shouldn’t use these companies or that they are doing anything wrong.  I think that even a small security system protecting your most vulnerable openings is better than not having any protection at all but I would feel more secure if all of my openings were protected.  If you have more than a couple of openings then, you may want to explore other options.

How Do You Choose A Burglar Alarm Company

Before you commit to using a particular burglar alarm company, check their references.  Check online for reviews of that security system company.  Check with the BBB to see if there are any complaints. I would even go so far at to check out the reviews of the actual burglar alarm brands.  I feel that some are more reliable and easier to install and use than others but you should check out what other people are saying about the systems that are available.  Real people, not other people in the burglar alarm industry like me.  Let’s face it – we look at burglar alarm systems differently.  I may like the features of a system but it could be more difficult for the average person to use.  If a security system is difficult to use, it’s less likely to be turned on.  In that case, you might as well save your money and not get one.
