YES! Not only that, but it has been proven that if a thief or burglar sees a decal or sign out front of the house showing that it has a home security system in place…they will often BYPASS the home as being too much bother. A security system will give you piece of mind, protection for your family, and it is worth the investment when you sell your property.
it depends on which one u buy some are over priced and bearly help if ure live alone i suggest life alret
No.
This is what Clark Howard, consumer advocate has to say about home security systems.
http://clarkhoward.com/shownotes/category/4/100/141/
A security system will not add any value to your home, but most homeowners insurance will give a discount for having one. The crooks will rob a house without one before they rob a house with one. They also montor for fire also. It’s well worth it in the long run. Most people install one after they have been robbed. Like closing the barn door after the cow is out. Some people think that if they live in a good neighborhood they are safe. WORNG the crooks don’t go the ghetto to break in a house (because they don’t have anything) They go to the good neighborhoods where you have lots of goodies. Where would you got to break in a house the ghetto or a nice neighborthood?
Unless you live in a very bad neighborhood , no. They’re one more thing to have to think about, they go off automatically sometimes, generally at night, and all your neighbors are rousted out with their baseball bats, billy clubs, and god help us guns. What you really need is a security system’s sign to divert “potentials.” If you live in the woods, all alone, it might be worth it, but otherwise I would say not.
They are, in fact check with your home owners insurance company, they may drop your rates enough because of it to offset any costs.
Mine gives me GREAT peace of mind. I have teenage daughters, who are old enough to be alone in the evenings. I feel safer knowing that they can receive help with the mere touch of a button. I have a console in each of their rooms.
I live in a classy neighborhood, with very little crime. But, that does not matter, it only takes ONCE to destroy your life.
If someone breaks into your home – they can. They won’t stay long and take as much as they can and be gone. Nothing can stop this from happening if they are intent on getting in and getting gone. It takes cops about 3-6 minutes to show up and find no one there; so you ar SOL.
Best advice is secure the house as best you can to make it difficult to break in. Also, you can buy a fake security key pad that runs on a battery; it has been shown to be an effective visual for determent, and it’s cheap.
Most break-in cases involve someone who knows you or has been to your house – be careful with those who have access to your home.
A home invasion with you in the house is much more of a concern. I suggest that if they break in and you feel endangered, shot to kill.
Absolutely! My husband and I are both in our eighties and facing the truth that one of us will probably soon be left alone. Our system gives us the protection and confidence that will enable us to live alone and feel comfortable.
